Timeline of freedom of association violations and civil society prosecution in Belarus

The Timeline of Violations of Freedom of Association and Persecution of Civil Society Organizations in Belarus provides a month-by-month overview of violations for the period from August 2020 to May 2025.

For more detailed information, please refer to the monthly and annual reports on the state of freedom of association and the situation of civil society organizations prepared by the human rights organization Lawtrend (https://www.lawtrend.org/english).

The Timeline only partially reflects the facts of violations of freedom of association in Belarus in the post-presidential period of 2020. It does not cover the forced relocation of many civil society representatives due to repression, numerous summons to special authorities, including pressure on the relatives of activists, coercion to cooperate, forced membership in pro-government organizations, attempts to fully replace independent civil society in Belarus with pro-government entities, the general atmosphere of fear, and the picture of total repression in the country.
