The First Summer Camp on Human Rights for Law Students was conducted on August 4-12, 2005 in Vorzel (not far from Kiev, Ukraine). Organization and implementation of the Camp was possible due to support and participation of the Ukrainian organizations partners of the Foundation for Legal Technologies Development: public association "For professional aid" (Kiev) and public association Youth Initiative (MART) (Chernigov).

30 law students from Belarus, Ukraine and Slovakia took part in the program of the Camp. Most of participants were Belarusian students representing the following universities: Belarusian State University, Mogilev State (Kulyashov) University, Gomel State (Skaryna) University, Polotsk State University, International Institute of Labor and Social Relations, etc. Ukrainian participants of the Summer Camp were students of Chernigov State Institute of Law, Social Technologies and Labor. Slovakia was represented by a student of Cyril and Methodius Institute.
A special educational program was prepared by international experts in the sphere of human rights for participants of the Camp.

International Mechanisms of Human Rights Protection. European System of Human Rights Protection, UN System of Human Rights Protection;

Monitorings and Sociological Surveys on the Question of Access of Population to Legal Aid;

Psychological Bases of Human Rights Activities;

Right to Due Process Basic Standards.

Right ro Fair Trial Right for Legal Defence;

Freedom from Torture. Human Rights in Police Activities;

Sources of Legal Information in the Republic of Belarus;

Human Rights in Medicine;
-
Non-for-profit Organizations in Belarus;
-
Freedom of Speech;
-
System of Public Groups in Belarus that Conduct Legal Actions on Public Interests Protection, etc.
Lawyers, attorneys, psychologists graduates of the Highest International Course on Human Rights of the Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights (Warsaw, Poland) both from Ukraine and Belarus were invited to hold lectures and practical study sesstions.

A special part of the Summer Camp on Human Rights for Law Students was preparation of students for practical actions on international standards in the spere of human rights and fundamental freedoms protection.
Participants were offered a practicum "Studying access of population to legal aid". Law students, having mastered interview skills, have conducted a questionnaire of Vorzel inhabitants on the question of their awareness about existance of free legal aid services in Ukraine.
Conduction of the Summer Camp on Human Rights for Law Students 2005 allowed us to fix a great interest among young people towards the problems of realization of human rights in the modern world and today Belarus.
